Open Question: Can anyone give me any tips or hints for moving to Galveston TX?

My family and I are planning on relocating to Galveston over the next few years. (currently living in DFW.) We have a small company we plan to expand in Galveston. At first our plan is to rent a home and live there part time while building our company and checking things out. Can anyone let me know things I should think of? Tips on schools, I have 2 middle school and 1 high school. They are in a great district now and I worry about switching them.
